Crowns,bridges
A crown is a type of dental restoration which completely caps or encircles a tooth or dental implant.It is often needed,when a large cavity threatens the ongoing health of a tooth.A bridge consists of sevaral crowns which are permanently fixed to healthy supporting teeth.It is used to replace missing teeth,restoring appearance and function.They are typically bonded to the tooth using a dental cement,so patients cannot remove them from their mouth.
1. Porcelain fused to metal crowns
The most common type of crowns.They have a metal frame on which is fused the porcelain cover in a high heat oven.The metal provides strong compression and tensile strength,and the porcelain gives the crowns white tooth-like appearance,suitable also for front teeth restorations.Porcelain covers the metal frame completely,so no metal is visible on any surface,and is of course colour-matched to the adjacent teeth.
2. Full porcelain crowns
All-ceramic restorations provide a better natural colour match than porcelain fused to metal ones.However,they are not as strong as them,and they might wear down opposing teeth easier.Due to their excellent esthetic qualities,they are an ideal choice for front teeth.
3. Zirconia crowns

4. Porcelain veneers
Porcelain veneers are ultra-thin shells of ceramic material, which are bonded to the front of teeth.They are placed to mask discolorations,brighten teeth and improve the smile.Procedure requires less preparation of teeth,but they chip off and brake easier than crowns.
